This is my go-to breakfast every day. Yes, every single day I make this smoothie (occasionally a slight variation). This simple smoothie is delicious, easy to make when you're still half asleep and keeps me going until lunch, whenever that may be. That may not seem like a big deal, but when you are on your feet all day teaching multiple classes, it IS a big deal. I haven't found many breakfasts that keep me full for long.
I feel like this doesn't qualify as a recipe it's so easy. What makes it a "Hulk" smoothie? The protein powder! Remember when everyone was calling green smoothies "monster" smoothies? Well, the protein powder makes this more "Hulky" (this is how my brain works). A little protein powder is key to giving this smoothie creaminess and long-lasting energy. The banana also helps make this creamy and adds important potassium. Spinach or kale boosts the nutritional value, and the almond milk adds more flavor and a boost of calcium, which all us ladies need a lot of.
So here it is! I use EAS vanilla protein powder, but anything you like will work. Sub the spinach for pumpkin, add a dash of cinnamon and it's like pumpkin pie. Add some unsweetened cocoa powder and it's chocolate. Do you have a go-to smoothie recipe? I'd love to hear about it in the comments!
6 Ingredient Green "Hulk" Smoothie
1 ripe banana
1/2 cup of water (more for thinner smoothie)
1/4 cup unsweetened almond milk (milk of choice is fine)
2 handfuls spinach or 1 handful kale (kale is a little tougher to blend so I use less)
1 scoop vanilla protein powder
4-6 ice cubes (more for thicker consistency)
Combine first 5 ingredients. Blend. Add ice and blend until smooth. Enjoy!
